Wedding Ceremonies & Other Special Events at The Butterfly Place
Open February 14th (Valentines Day) through the Sunday after Thanksgiving.
The Butterfly Place provides the ideal setting for all types of events, including:
Weddings, Bridal Showers, Anniversaries,
Birthdays, Family Gatherings & Corporate Events.
We also rent our beautiful indoor garden for
Engagements, Special Occasions and Family Portraits.

Wedding Ceremonies – Celebrate your marriage among hundreds of freely-flying butterflies in an indoor garden! Your wedding ceremony among the butterflies will be a truly special and unforgettable event. The indoor garden is ideal for up to approximately 100 guests. The temperature in the garden is always approximately 80-85°F, as the butterflies need warmth to be able to fly. There is both heat & air conditioning to keep the atrium garden warm & to cool it down.

Times available for your ceremony:

February 14th - March 31st: The Butterfly Place is open to all customers from 10:00AM - 4:00PM. No customers are sold tickets to visit after 3:30PM. Wedding guests may begin to arrive anytime after 3:30PM, with the ceremony held shortly after 4:00PM, leaving time for photography, etc. after the ceremony! The Butterfly Place is reserved until approximately 5:00PM.

April 1st - September 1st: The Butterfly Place is open to all customers from 10:00AM - 5:00PM. No customers are sold tickets to visit after 4:30PM. Wedding guests may begin to arrive any time after 4:30PM, the ceremony will be held shortly after 5:00PM, leaving time for photography, etc. after the ceremony! The Butterfly Place is reserved until approximately 6:00PM.

September 2nd - Sunday after Thanksgiving: The Butterfly Place is open to all customers from 10:00AM - 4:00PM. Wedding Ceremonies will be held shortly after 4:00PM and the Butterfly Place will be reserved for approximately one hour until 5:00PM.

If a morning wedding is desired, wedding guests may arrive any time after 8:30AM, the ceremony will be held shortly after 9:00AM, and no other guests will be visiting until 10:00AM, leaving time for photography, etc. after the ceremony.

It is desirable for guests to arrive approximately ½ hour before the ceremony so that they may enjoy the butterfly garden and “get settled”.

The garden is a natural setting. There is a winding brick pathway. There are benches available if a guest needs a place to sit. The area is not conducive to setting up rows of chairs. Bricks may at times get moist. Suggestion: If a long dress or train is worn, keep the dress bustled until picture taking time and/or purchase a runner, available from most florists.

2008 Fees

The price of a wedding ceremony at The Butterfly Place is $350.00. This fee includes admission for all of your guests, and a meeting with Sylvia Leslie, coordinator, as you plan your wedding. Please make an appointment with Sylvia so that she is available to answer all of your questions. If a formal rehearsal is needed after hours, there is an additional $50.00 fee. Please arrange this with Sylvia as far in advance as possible.

We have a CD player available. Live musicians are welcome! Sylvia is available to help with planning music or vocals! Please talk with Sylvia as you make your plans. In addition, please make an appointment with Sylvia if anyone participating in the ceremony (i.e., a musician or photographer) needs to come by to “check out” the area. Need a beautiful wedding or special occasion cake? Ask for Anna.

Sylvia is very honored & excited to be a Justice of the Peace. She is available to officiate at traditional, interfaith and same-sex marriages, or renew your vows “among the butterflies” for a special anniversary celebration! Please talk with her if you need an officiant. Justice of the Peace fee: $80.00 (or $105.00 if a rehearsal is needed.) Sylvia is a Justice of the Peace in Massachusetts & is available year round.
